Officers Recover Drugs During Traffic Stop in Pasadena; 38 Year Old Man Arrested, Charged


Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Northern District arrested and charged a 38 year old man after allegedly recovering drugs from his vehicle during a traffic stop in Pasadena. 

On January 17, 2020 at approximately 1:30 a.m. detectives from Northern District's Tactical Patrol Unit conducted a traffic stop on Whitaker Road near Shirley Murphy Road. 

During that stop probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. Detectives located a multi-color "Mario and Luigi" black baggie containing suspected CDS marijuana. Detectives then located a fast food beverage cup in the cup holder in the vehicle. Upon opening the lid of the cup detectives observed a clear plastic bag containing approximately two ounces of suspected CDS cocaine. 

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was arrested and transported to Northern for processing. The CDS marijuana had an approximate weight with packaging of 2.87 grams with a street value of approximately $57.40. The CDS cocaine had a total approximate weight with packaging of 60.73 grams with an approximate street value of $6,073.00.

The driver was identified as Charles Edward Mitchell of New Freetown Road in Pasadena. Mitchell was given a civil citation for marijuana in addition to being charged with two crimes including possession of CDS not marijuana.
