GoFundMe Established for Edgewater Ice Cream Store Employees Assaulted Over Mask Request

A GoFundMe page has been setup in benefit of the employees of an ice cream store in Edgewater who were brutally attacked after asking two customers to wear masks while in the store.

On November 7, 2020 at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers responded to the Coldstone Creamery located at 15 Lee AirPark Drive in Edgewater for an unknown disturbance.  The initial investigation found that a black male suspect and black female suspect entered the business without facemasks and were asked to put them on.  The suspects were uncooperative and argued with the employees.  The argument escalated to the point where the suspect physically assaulted the store employees. The suspects left the scene prior to police arrival in a Silver Nissan Altima with an unknown registration.

Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspects.

One of the women reportedly has two broken bones in her face and will need surgery on her eye socket. The other woman has a broken nose. Due to the injuries sustained in the attack, both women will be out of work for an unspecified period of time. The funds raised will go towards covering various living and medical expenses while they are out of work.  "The job is not covering medical bills and rent still has to be paid," the page says. "Thank you in advance for helping and please spread the word. Please be careful and stay safe."

$245 had been raised as of 11:30 pm Wednesday.  To donate, go to Coldstone Employees Emergency Fundraiser
