Impaired Driver Found in Possession of Handgun After Being Pulled Over in Hanover While Speeding
An impaired driver was found to be in possession of a handgun after being pulled over in Hanover for exceeding the speed limit by nearly double the posted speed.
On December 30, 2020 at approximately 12:15 a.m., Western District officers were working DUI saturation patrol when they observed a vehicle, a 2008 Cadillac DTS, traveling 100 mph in a 55 mph zone on MD 295 near MD Route 100. The officer stopped the vehicle and, upon approaching the vehicle, observed signs of impairment.
The vehicle was occupied by two other passengers. The driver was taken into custody. Recovered from the vehicle were a .22 caliber Sig Sauer pistol, two magazines, several rounds of ammunition and a small amount of marijuana (less than 10 grams). The driver and two passengers were prohibited from possessing firearms and arrested:
