17 Year Old Boy Found Fatally Shot Inside Vehicle Near Crofton

A 17 year old boy was found shot dead inside a vehicle outside Crofton this evening, authorities said moments ago. 

According to officials, a 911 call was received shortly before 4pm today related to a shooting victim being transported by a private vehicle.  First responders were able to locate the vehicle near Rutland Road and Route 50.  The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead from injuries consistent with being shot. 

Preliminary details indicate the shooting took place in Bowie, Prince George County. When the exact location of the shooting is confirmed, the Prince George County Police Deparment will lead a homicide investigation. 

The victim's name has yet to be released.
