Gambrills Shoe Store Manager Pepper Sprayed During Theft Incident; D.C Man and Four Others Charged

A man from Washington DC and four others have been charged after the manager of a Gambrills shoe store was pepper sprayed while attempting to stop a theft. 

On December 11, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers responded to the Rack Room Shoes located in the 2600 block of chapel Lake Drive in Gambrills for a theft and an assault. Officers learned that a manager attempted to confront a group of shoplifters, and one of the suspects pepper-sprayed the manager. 

All five suspects were apprehended by officers a short distance away and over $1000.00 of merchandise was recovered. The manager was not injured as a result of the incident.
