Annapolis City Council Members, Police Leadership Have Yet to Publicly Address Fatal Shooting of Young Man on Newtowne Drive

Members of the Annapolis City Council, and top leadership at police headquarters have yet to make a public statement regarding the recent fatal shooting of a young man on Newtowne Drive.  

According to a police department press release, emergency vehicles responded to the 700 block of Newtowne Drive for a reported shooting at approximately 6:52 p.m. on January 22, 2023.  "The 18 year old male victim was located outside of a building suffering from injuries consistent with being shot," the release stated.  "The victim died from his injuries at the scene." 

The victim's identity has not been disclosed by authorities.  Additional details were not immediately available.
