Man Pleads Guilty to Shooting Teen Boy in Eastport, Gets Sentenced to Time Served and Probation

The man who was charged with shooting a teen boy in Eastport last year has been released after pleading guilty and being sentenced to time served and probation.

On February 14, 2022, an Anne Arundel County Circuit Court judge ordered the release of Jayvon Anderson, 21, of Annapolis, after imposing a sentence of 10 years, with all but time served and 5 years of supervised probation suspended.  Anderson, who was 20 years old at the time, entered a plea of guilty on January 18, 2022, to second degree assault and illegal possession of a firearm by a minor.

On April 12, 2022, at  approximately 4:10pm, officers responded to the area of Frederick Douglas Street and Medgar Evers Street for a reported shooting, according to police department officials.  In a press release, the department said upon arrival to the area, a 15 year old male victim was located suffering from injuries consistent with being shot. "The victim was airlifted to an area hospital for further medical treatment.," the press release said.  "At the time of transport, the victim had been listed in stable condition." Investigators later identified Anderson (shown below) as a suspect before taking him into custody.
