Odenton Native, Archbishop Spalding Graduate to Enter NBA Draft as Projected First Round Pick
A graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School and basketball standout from Odenton is expected to be a first round pick in the 2023 NBA draft.
Cam Whitmore, a freshman at Villanova University in Pennsylvania, announced that he is entering the draft during a recent interview. "Going to the NBA has always been my dream, and I am happy that I am seeing my dream come true," Whitmore said. "I thank GOD for allowing me to be in the position I am in today, and for guiding me in the right direction." The six-foot-seven forward also thanked his parents and coaches for always encouraging him to be the best he can be.
"Cam is a uniquely gifted player who has an amazing opportunity before him to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA," stated Villanova head coach Kyle Neptune. "As a basketball family, we're excited for Cam as he takes this next step in his journey and fully supportive of his decision."
In a press release, Villanova University said Whitmore is projected as a first round selection by a range of scouring services. According to Cabletv.com, the 2023 NBA Draft will occur in Brooklyn on June 22, 2023. Both rounds of the draft will air on ESPN, while ABC will also broadcast the first round.
