The Anne Arundel County Police Department has identified Shawn Michael Lilly, a 21 year old Glen Burnie resident, as the motorcyclist killed in Curtis Bay today.
In a statement, the department said that on April 19, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., their officers responded to a traffic crash at Fort Smallwood Road and Energy Parkway. The investigation reportedly revealed that a 2022 Toyota 4-Runner was travelling northbound on Fort Smallwood Road, when a 2022 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Mr. Lilly, was travelling southbound on Fort Smallwood Road approaching the same intersection. The motorcycle and the Toyota collided in the intersection, according to police.
"The motorcycle then struck a 2023 Acura that was travelling eastbound on Energy Parkway," police said. "Mr. Lilly was ejected as the motorcycle came to rest near the wood line. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for advanced medical care. Mr. Lilly was later pronounced deceased."
The drivers of the other two vehicles were uninjured.
