Flyer: Investigation Into Fatal Severn Shooting Continues After One Suspect is Arrested
The homicide investigation in connection with a fatal Severn shooting continues after just one alleged suspect was arrested earlier this year.
Police said on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to the area of Pioneer Drive and Arwell Court in Severn for a shooting. In a press release, department officials said after the officers arrived on the scene, Naim Rashid Addison, 20, of Severn, was located suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). "Mr. Addison was seated in the driver's seat of a tan 2008 Honda Civic when the shooting occurred," the press release said. "Unfortunately, lifesaving efforts could not revive Mr. Addison, who was pronounced deceased at an area hospital."
In March, Vanae Lewis (shown below),18, was charged with the first degree murder of Mr. Addison.
According to charging documents, a witness to the shooting told investigators that Mr. Addison had driven to the area to participate in a drug transaction which had been arranged by Vanae Lewis. "A suspect approached the vehicle on the driver's side to pay for the drugs. Two additional suspects then approached the vehicle on the passenger side. One of the suspects then fired a shot into the car, striking Mr. Addison,"
Ms. Lewis was identified as one of the three suspects. The additional two suspects have not yet been publicly identified by authorities.
"One suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the crime. However, there are other people of interest that need to be brought to justice," a flyer related to the investigation states.
