Newtowne Drive Stabbing Suspect Struck and Killed by Tractor Trailer in Prince George County, Victim Remains in Critical Condition
The suspect in a stabbing that occured today on Newtowne Drive has been killed after being struck by a tractor trailer in Prince George County.
Shortly before 2:00pm this afternoon, emergency vehicles responded to the 700 block of Newtowne Drive for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, firefighters located a victim with multiple stab wounds. The victim, an adult female, was later tranferred by helicopter to the Crawley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
At about 4:15 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police College Park Barrack responded to eastbound U.S. Route 50 at Maryland Route 193 for a report of a pedestrian-related crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a pedestrian walked into traffic and was struck by a tractor-trailer.
The pedestrian, identified as Maurice Logan Mitchell, 42, of Annapolis, was transported by ambulance to University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene.
Authorities have determined the stabbing to be a domestic incident, officials say.
