"Upon arrival, officers located a male victim in the 500 block of Meadowmist Way on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound," police officials said.  "Responding officers administered life-saving efforts for the victim, 27-year-old Isaiah Oludayo Olugbemi of Odenton, until he was transported to the University oflllll Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced deceased."

Several residents from the neighborhood reported hearing multiple gunshots coming from outside their homes, investigators say.

The suspect in custody has been identified as Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux, 36, of Odenton. Giroux has been charged with first and second-degree murder.

"Isaiah, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, was taken from us at the young age of 27 due to senseless violence," an online tribute states. "As a promising boxer, Isaiah was on the verge of turning professional, having recently achieved a national championship bringing him closer the achieving his dreams of stardom."

The online tribute says that Isaiah was fatally shot multiple times in front of his home, just a few feet away from his beloved two-year-old son and his parents. "The apparent shooter-a neighbor has been apprehended and the investigation is ongoing. As we await justice, the void Isaiah's absence leaves behind is immeasurable."

Giroux, who is represented by longtime defense attorney Peter O'Neil, is being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
