Baltimore Man Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting Near Arundel Mills Mall

A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting near Arundel Mills Mall, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said  today. 

In a statement, department officials said on September 13, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police responded to 7000 Arundel Mills Circle for a report of a shooting just occurred. "Officers assigned to the Arundel Mills Entertainment district arrived within two minutes of the initial call and were directed to the rear parking lot nearest the movie theater complex," the statement said. "Officers quickly located an unknown adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso and immediately began life saving measures. Anne Arundel County Fire personnel arrived soon after and continued on scene medical treatment. The victim was transported to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and was pronounced deceased while in transport."

The victim in this case was identified as 31-year-old Yant Junior Gomez, (pictured on the right). On October 18, 2024, the suspect, Dontay Maurice Fitzgerald (pictured on the left), was arrested.
