Police Charge Glen Burnie Woman After Autopsy Ruled Her Child Died From Ingesting Opioids

The Anne Arundel County Police Department today announced the arrest of a Glen Burnie woman after an autopsy determined her child died due to ingesting opiods.

In a statement, the police department said officers responded to the 8000 block of Winding Wood Road in Glen Burnie for an unresponsive two-year-old child on August 17, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m.

"Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive child lying face down inside the home. The child was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased," the statement said.  "During the course of the investigation, evidence was recovered from the home, and interviews were conducted. The child was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to be conducted. Toxicology results later indicated the presence of opioids in the child’s system."

According to authorities, the child’s mother,  34 year old Tiffany Lynee Carr, was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, child neglect, reckless endangerment, and related charges.

Carr was arrested and released on her own recognizance, court records show.

The deceased child was identified as Nevaeh Lynee Dunscomb.  An online obituary published by Reese and Sons Funeral Home said the following about Nevaeh:

"Nevaeh brought immeasurable joy and light into her family’s lives with her kind heart, radiant smile, fighting spirit, and boundless curiosity. Nevaeh loved going to the pool, going to the Park and getting on the swings, and watching My Little Pony and Ms. Rachel on YouTube where she learned sign language and other educational information she picked up on easily."
