District 3 School Board Candidate Chuck Yocum is the Best Choice, Supporters Say

School Board Candidate Chuck Yocum is the best choice out of any other district 3 candidate, his supporters say. 

According to a campaign website, Yocum has lived in the Pasadena area for 33 years, and has been an active member throughout those years, serving as a classroom teacher and coach, working with both the Buccaneers (as a coach and Athletic Director,) and Pasadena Chargers Youth Athletic Clubs. 

Yocum co-founded "The Caring Cupboard,"  a 501c3 nonprofit food pantry serving those in Pasadena and throughout all of Anne Arundel County. Yocum said the organization has been blessed by the District 3 community with support. 

"It’s time to focus on the fundamentals. It’s time to get back to the DRAWINGboard," Yocum said. "Our schools are failing. Test scores are abysmal. A 28% proficiency rating gives a school a three out of five star rating in Maryland."

"Chuck is the best choice for us," one supporter said.  "He has done the work, and has the knowledge and experience needed to make a differnce." 

Another supporter (Amy LaCovey-Tanner)  had the following to say about Chuck Yocum:

As a parent I became enthralled in the board of education when my kids sat behind a computer for 18 months instead of in a classroom. When we started allowing  politics and progressive ideals in in class instead of giving  the students just an education. When we allowed teacher associations and teachers to try and tell kids what to think instead of how to think. 

I believe Chuck Yocum can help us get back to the basics, reading, writing, arithmetic. It’s really that simple. He will offer a conservative balance on the board of education and has been a staple in the Pasadena community for over 30 years. He can be trusted to know what is best for our kids future, he knows how important this seat is for AACPS.

Supporter Jerry Shandrowski said the following about Chuck Yocum:

To me, this race is all about ideology. This is the reddest district in the county and one of the candidates is an unapologetic progressive

The father of a teenage daughter, as well as a retired law, enforcement officer, I trust Chuck Yokum as both a person person and as well as our candidate for the school board
