Gambrills Accident Leaves Man, 31, Dead

A 31 year old man was killed in a serious accident that reportedly occured in Gambrils. 

In a statement, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said on November 24, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers from their officers responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of Crain Highway north and Saint Stephens Church Road.  A preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevy Cruz, driven by Joseph A. Amatangelo IV, attempting to cross Crain Highway north when it was struck by a young driver, who was traveling northbound on Crain Highway.

Mr. Amatangelo was pronounced deceased, while the other driver sustained no injuries. officials stated. 

According to an online obituary, Mr. Amatangelo will always be remembered as the guy that kept getting better with age. "He turned into a true leader and had a ton of knowledge when it came to almost any subject. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him will remember him for his hilarious impressions, encyclopedic knowledge of sports facts, and his unending loyalty to those he loved," the obituary said.   

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to an online fundraiser which will become the beginnings of a foundation created in Jay’s memory.
