Case Against Edgewater Man Charged with Wife's Murder Slated for Trial

The case against the Edgewater man who is accused of murdering his wife is slated for trial. 

The Anne Arundel County Police announced James Houston's arrest in September in connection with his wife Nancianne Houston's murder. Nancianne, 47, was found dead on August 9, 2024, while her husband James, 58, was critically injured at their Edgewater waterfront residence, which occurred over a year after Mrs. Houston filed for divorce and seeking a protective order. A stabbing was reported at 48 South River Road South, where officers found an adult female and male with apparent stab wounds and administered medical aid. Fire department personnel pronounced Mrs. Houston deceased at the scene.

According to court records, the nine-day trial against James Houston is scheduled to begin on May 23, 2025.  

Mr. Houston, who is charged with a single count of first degree murder, is currently being held without bond at the Jennifer Road Detention Center.
