Funeral Plans Underway for Severn Double Homicide Victims' Families Amid Ongoing Police Investigation
As the Anne Arundel County Police Department homicide detectives continue their investigation into the recent double homicide in Severn, plans to funeralize both victims are underway.
On March 4, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a shooting incident in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road. Upon arrival, officers found two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds. Despite receiving immediate medical aid from officers and Fire Department personnel, 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald of Severn was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other male, 28-year-old Mack Samuel Galloway III, of Glen Burnie, was transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was also pronounced deceased.

According to a digital obituary published by The Wylie Funeral Home, family and friends are expected to celebrate the life of Derrick McDonald on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Timothy Baptist Church. A fundraiser has been created to assist with covering the cost associated with making the arrangements. "No family is ever prepared for such a devastating loss, and during this time of unimaginable grief, we are also facing the overwhelming cost of laying Derrick to rest," the organizer said. ""We are asking for your support to help cover funeral expenses and provide relief to the grieving family."
The Anne Arundel County Police Department said several witnesses have been interviewed. "While the motive is still under investigation, preliminary findings suggest this was a targeted incident," police department officials said in a press release. "The investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 410-222-4731."
